About the Material

AITO supplies silicone foam sheet material for converters making gaskets, cushioning pads and insulating interfaces. The series covers nominal densities of 160, 190, 240, 280, 370, 420 and 500 kg/m³.

Published 25% compression stress ranges from 8 ±5 to 120 ±30 kPa across the seven grades. Select the compression response and thickness around the available space and assembly load.

The listed service-temperature range is −60 to +200 °C. Review the selected grade and construction under the actual operating conditions.

Material Selection

  • Start with the free thickness and installed gap.
  • Compare the 25% compression stress with the available closing force and contact area.
  • Specify operating temperature, exposure and the required service life.
  • For a specified fire, smoke or electrical requirement, review the grade and thickness against the applicable report.

Processing & Supply Options

AITO supplies silicone foam sheets with processing requirements reviewed against the selected grade, thickness and component drawing.

Cut-to-size sheets
Sheet dimensions and flat blanks prepared within the selected grade’s published thickness and width range. Specify length and tolerances.
Drawing-based cutting
AITO’s die-cutting capability can be reviewed for pads and gasket outlines. Include holes, narrow sections, thickness and quantity.
Adhesive backing review
Specify the silicone foam grade, bonding surface and service temperature so the backing construction can be evaluated.
Lamination review
Provide the required facing and layer sequence. Confirm compatibility and total thickness for the finished component.

AITO processing services: Grooving, slitting, lamination, CNC cutting, waterjet cutting, wire cutting, oscillating-knife cutting, strip cutting, cut-to-size work and die cutting.

The cutting method is selected for the material, thickness and drawing. Confirm feasibility for the selected silicone grade. Raw-foam temperature, fire and electrical data do not automatically apply to an adhesive-backed or laminated part.

Thicknesses start at 0.5, 0.8 or 1 mm depending on the grade, up to 30 mm. Standard widths are 500 and 1000 mm.

Send the required length, dimensional tolerances and quantity. Include adhesive or lamination requirements for supply review.

Typical Applications

Sheet material for converters producing seals, cushioning pads and insulating interfaces.

Battery-pack and energy-storage seals

Foam strips and frame gaskets can be evaluated at pack covers, service openings and enclosure joints. Specify the installed gap, fastening load and sealing requirement. The finished assembly needs its own sealing and safety validation.

Electrical cabinet gaskets

Converters cut the sheet into seals for doors, lids and removable access panels. Select the starting thickness and compression response around the enclosure fit, then review the bonding surface and joining method.

Automotive cushioning and isolation

Pads and interface strips can separate contacting parts in vehicle assemblies. Review contact area, movement and compression load together; the sheet data does not define a finished-part vibration rating.

Rail and equipment assembly pads

Silicone foam can be evaluated for cushioning, insulation and protective interfaces in rail and energy-storage equipment. State the required fire, smoke and toxicity specification so the relevant grade, thickness and test report can be reviewed.

FAQ

Does the code identify hardness or density?

The number is the nominal density in kg/m³. It is not a hardness value. Check the separate 25% compression stress when reviewing assembly force.

Are all thicknesses available in every grade?

SIL-160 and SIL-190 list 1–30 mm. SIL-240 and SIL-280 list 0.8–30 mm. SIL-370, SIL-420 and SIL-500 list 0.5–30 mm. Standard widths are 500 and 1000 mm; confirm the required length and tolerances.

Can you supply material for our converting process?

Send the sheet size, thickness, quantity and any adhesive or lamination requirements. AITO supplies the material for your subsequent cutting and assembly process.

How should a fire or transport specification be checked?

State the exact standard, required classification and material thickness. Review the applicable test report for the selected construction before approving a production part.

Is the 100 °C compression result a confirmed compression-set value?

The supplied reference lists a test at 100 °C for 22 h under 50% compression and a result of ≤5.0. It does not state the result unit or recovery procedure. A defined compression-set value must be confirmed before specification.
